Simon and Duncan both sit on the BVOA committee and thought it would be fun to host a podcast chatting with interesting guests about hot vet orthopaedic topics and scientific papers. Simon is an advanced practitioner based in Berkshire and Duncan is a RCVS specialist in Wiltshire.
Since launching the podcast last September we’ve had over 5000 downloads from all over the World!

Episode 8: Jimi Cook
For the final episode of season 2 we’re joined by the distinguished chair in orthopaedic surgery at the university of Missouri, Jimi Cook. Jimi co-authored the 2010 complications paper that is so often cited. We discuss that paper alongside some human field equivalents. We also chat about tightrope, shoulder instability and Jimi’s current work on biological knee replacements in humans.

Episode 6 (and 7) Bill Oxley
We’re joined by RCVS specialist and founder of Vet3D, Bill Oxley. We hear about Bill’s career and his company Vet3D which makes patient specific guides (PSGs) and implants. We discuss CCWO and eTPA. For this episode we’re joined by RCVS and EBVS Specialist Ellie Lederer. Ellie tells all about what it’s like to work with Duncan (!), we hear about her career, discuss her approach to HIF and Emily Frapwell’s paper on humeral condylar morphology. Abbie set up the small animal surgery discussion group on Facebook in 2015, it now has 9000 members from all over the world discussing surgical cases. We hear about Abbie’s career, how she set the group up and how she maintains it. We also discussed women in orthopaedics – how do we encourage more female vets into orthopaedics? Then we all chatted about two interesting papers on humeral intracondylar fissures in French Bulldogs.
